Richard Li Breaks Silence on Split with Isabella Leong
After Isabella Leong Lok-si announced her split with Hong Kong billionaire Richard Li Tzar-kai last week, the latter has now come out to "clear the air."
There has been talk that the 23 year old singer-actress was paid HK$500 million in the breakup. Richard Li refuted the breakup settlement or "cash for children" motive and only commit to giving his three sons the best upbringing.
The children are Ethan, born in Canada in April 2009, and twins born in San Francisco in June last year.
Richard Li also denied any third party - Malaysian-American model-actress Mandy Lieu in particular - wrecking their marriage.
The couple met on 'The Mummy 3' film set after being introduced by actress Michelle Yeoh. It was a "perfect" match - Isabella Leong a beautiful rising starlet while Richard Li has the cash (about HK$8.6 billion).
However, their relationship was far from smooth sailing. Isabella Leong did not adapt well to the rich family's rules. She met her old flame in a Canadian bar which caused Richard Li much embarrassment.
Isabella Leong also likes to share private photos of herself and her sons on Facebook but the media attention was not welcomed by the Li family. They tried to resolve their misunderstandings but to no avail.
Marrying into a rich family may be glamorous and ensure your future is well taken care of, but there are so many suffocating rules to abide... no guarantee of living happily ever after.
