Edwin Yap Chian Eng 24 Years Jail For Sexually Abusing Boys
As a swimming coach, 34-year-old Edwin Yap Chian Eng conducted his lessons in a most disturbing way - by asking his student to dive into the pool and perform a sexual act.Absolutely deplorable behavior, especially when he is a father. This sexy fiend must be kept away from society as long as possible.
He even threatened the boy, saying he would not be allowed home until he did so.
The child failed to do so as he was out of breath, and midway during the lesson, Yap again asked him to perform the same sexual act.
For committing sexual offences against minors, the father of two young boys was sentenced to 24 years' jail and 24 strokes of the cane on Friday.

Top Ten Trusted Professions In Singapore

Firefighter tops the list of 40 vocations in a survey conducted by Reader's Digest Singapore.
You are also in good company if your profession is a doctor, judge, teacher, etc. Singaporeans have little faith in bankers and lawyers which is not surprising after the financial crisis and numerous cases of client's money being absconded.
As for the trusted personalities in Singapore, Chief Justice Chan Sek Keong tops the list, followed by William Tan, Khoo Boon Hui, Lee Wei Ling, etc.
Do you agree with the results of the survey? By the way, Gurmit Singh made it into the top ten trusted personalties, which makes the results rather interesting.
What about other Singapore celebrities?

Apply For Marina Bay Sands Career
RazorTv featured Geraldine Wong, 22, who is one of 1,800 dealers and dealer inspectors at Marina Bay Sands.
She has already undergone four weeks of training and can now stack and sort chips as well as shuffle and deal cards in a fast, professional way.
So far, all 1,800 dealers are Singaporeans and permanent residents, which at least serves the purpose of having casinos in Singapore to provide meaningful jobs.
Marina Bay Sands started training 320 dealer supervisors about six weeks ago, and about 1,500 dealers this week, at its 1,985 sq m casino training school in Mountbatten Road.
Training for dealers takes up to seven weeks, held round the clock in eight-hour shifts to simulate a working casino.
If you are interested in applying for a Marina Bay Sands career, check out the website as there are still some jobs available.

Marina Bay Sands To Open On 27 April 2010

Marina Bay Sands, Singapore's second casino and integrated resort will open its doors on April 27. This will be followed by the second phase opening on June 23.
In Phase One, some 963 hotel rooms, shopping mall and convention centre, fine dining restaurants, as well as the casino. Phase Two will include the Sands SkyPark, the Event Plaza, and the rest of the retails and restaurants.
I will be very surprised if Marina Bay Sands can open ceremony by end April. During Chinese New Year, I passed by the area and still saw a lot of cranes, heavy machinery around. Not sure if they can wrap up the construction works and tidy up the place in time...
Anyway, Marina Bay Sands is ramping up the hiring and training of staff to fill up all the necessary positions, in preparation for a grand and perfect opening.
So if you are currently unemployed, you can head over to the recruitment centre at Mountbatten Square, which is also the training headquarters.

Kim Yuna Shatters Record In Ice-Skating Short Program

Kim Yuna, the celebrated South Korean skater and reigning world champion, delighted fans and judges on Tuesday with a sexy and sophisticated James Bond number in the women's short program.
Her score of 78.5 points not only shattered her own world record, it put her almost five points ahead of main threat – Mao Asada of Japan.
The highlight of Kim Yuna's performance was an impressive triple flip and the judges could find little fault with her refined arm movements, steps and spins. Perhaps it is her exceptional body shape and poise which set her apart.
So far, Kim Yuna has lived up to the enormous expectations of her nation. The gold medal is hers to lose.
Check out Kim Yu-na's beautiful ice-skating performance in the YouTube video below.

Prostitutes Stake Out Resorts World Sentosa

Many prostitutes are staking out the casino at Resorts World Sentosa. They hang around the gambling tables, pretending to gamble but are actually seducing gamblers for sex.
Some of these prostitutes are openly hooking up with customers and it is extremely convenient as they have booked hotel rooms nearby.
The casino barely opened its doors for one week but Singaporeans are already full of complaints. Instead of attracting tourists and well-heeled foreigners, the casino became a gathering place for maids and construction workers.
But this is still minor to me. I am concerned about what gambling related crimes and prostitution will do to Sentosa which used to be a nice place to bring your family for a weekend outing.
Besides gambling losses, prostitution is a double whammy to cause families to break up. There will be more STDs and AIDs too.
Are the economic benefits from the casinos really larger than social ills? Only time will tell.

Glenn Ong Ready To Propose To Jean Danker

Their year-old romance, till this day, has remained quite a discussion topic ever since their love story ignited a media storm over a year ago. Love them or hate them, Glenn Ong and Jean Danker are 'soul' connected that Glenn is "ready to propose anytime already".
Snuggling up to each other on the couch with the ever doting Glenn gushing over his ladylove and Jean getting all teary-eyed at some point talking about her beau, one can't help but feel the genuine love and respect they have for each other.
Source: Yahoo News
After two failed marriages, I hope Glenn Ong is taking this relationship seriously and has become more experienced and mellow.
Glenn Ong's previous marriage to Jamie Yeo also appeared lovey-dovey to the public but last year, he suddenly announced that the marriage is over.
I hate to see Jean Danker getting hurt because she is just like a little sister to many listeners who faithfully tune in to the Class 95 program every evening.
Since so many celebrities are getting married in the Year of the Tiger, I won't be surprised if Glenn pops the question soon and their marriage could well be the biggest event of the year.
Stay tuned for updates...

Zzen Zhang and Tiffany Leong In Priceless Wonder

I caught the first episode of MediaCorp drama "Priceless Wonder" (游戏人生) which aired on 17 February 2010 and I must say that the acting and plot are good enough for me to be "addicted."
Speaking of addiction, the moral message behind Priceless Wonder is the adverse effects of gambling on a family. This gambling-theme is timely, given that two casinos will open this year and possibly change the safe and conservative lifestyle in Singapore. You guys better watch Priceless Wonder before setting foot in the casinos.
Zzen Zhang stars as a lovable bad boy who loves to take risks and spent his entire life gambling. This is Zzen Zhang's first leading actor role after an eye-catching baddie role in "Little Nyonya." His popularity is rising fast in Singapore and China now.
Tiffany Leong features as Zzen Zhang’s love interest and she must have had a memorable experience after ending up with a split lip in a long and intense kissing scene with Zzen Zhang.
Tiffany said: "If he (director) still didn't say stop, I wouldn't have anywhere else to put my hands! My heart was racing already, and after that I realized my lips had split as the kissing was too intense!"
Remember to catch the show on Channel 8 tonight at 9pm (Mon to Fri). Besides Zzen Zhang and Tiffany Leong, there are other recognisable MediaCorp artistes like Alan Tern, Priscelia Chan, Nat Ho, Xiang Yun, etc.
By the way, Zzen Zhang gets slapped by Tiffany Leong in Priceless Wonder. If you hate him as a scheming scoundrel and rapist in Little Nonya, just consider the slaps his comeuppance.

A Historic Moment: First Singapore Casino Opens

The Resorts World Sentosa casino welcomed its first visitors last Sunday at 12:18 p.m., an auspicious time and date that coincides with the first day of the Lunar New Year.
Singapore wants to transform itself into a tourist hub with more emphasis on service industry than manufacturing. Marina Bay Sands will open in the coming months and together, the casinos are expected to boost our GDP by up to 1% in future.
While there are certain measures put in place by the authories, like the $100 fee to dissuade Singaporeans from entering the casino (foreigners exempted) and a ban on anyone declared bankrupt, there are still social ills to consider.
Theft, money laundering, drugs, prostitution, etc will probably increase. Our core values like working hard and saving money for a rainy day may also be eroded if everybody thinks they can strike it rich at the casino and don't need to work liao.
Anyway, the opening day is a huge success for Resorts World Sentosa. The queue for everything from levy, food, drinks to playing jackpot/blackjack/roulette, etc. is super long.
Have you been to the Resorts World casino already?

Ris Low Promotes Safe Sex with Bananas

Singapore’s influential celebrity, Ris Low, has captured our imagination again.
The former Miss Singapore World 2009 recently made a video with Clicknetwork promoting safe sex. Ris Low donned a bikini and demonstrated the technique of putting on condoms... with bananas.
Unfortunately, Espire company (Ris Low is the brand spokesperson for Espire condom) did not think too highly of this video.
The company felt that the video made Ris Low look silly, and it affects the image which they are trying to portray for their brand. As we know, things are never straightforward with Ris Low. In a surprising twist, she claimed that Espire knew about the video and were “fine” with it.
I don't know who is telling the truth but do check out the video and see if Ris Low looks silly or not.

Will You Rent A Girlfriend To Bring Home For Chinese New Year?
This year is a particularly sensitive period for the unattached. Since the Lunar New Year coincides with Valentine's Day, a lot of parents and relatives are surely going to ask about your girlfriend/boyfriend.
In China, this problem is solved by websites offering fake dates for less than hundred dollars.
Advertisements posted by people seeking to pay young men or women to come home with them for Spring Festival are scattered all over popular web portals.
"500 yuan (73 dollars) a day, you don't have to sleep with me, I can sleep on the floor in the same room, but you have to be a good actress," one man said Wednesday on baidu.com, under the heading "Looking to rent a girlfriend".
A lot of 20-something Chinese have no siblings due to the nation's one-child policy, and many come under heavy pressure to marry once they hit their late 20s.Source: AFP
Will you rent a girlfriend to bring home for Chinese New Year just so that you can get a break from the irritating questions? For me, I think this is a waste of good money.

Temasek Sets Up New Investment Firm: Seatown Holdings

Temasek Holdings has set up a new investment company called Seatown Holdings.
According to the statement, Temasek’s senior managing director and chief strategist Charles Ong will be the chief executive of the new company. Mr Ong said Seatown is a global investment company, wholly-owned by Temasek Holdings.
Dow Jones reported that Seatown Holdings will have an investment capital of around US$3 billion and would focus on investments in emerging markets with an emphasis on Asia.
I don't know if this is good news or not but Seatown will eventually open its doors to Singapore’s citizens, allowing them to co-invest with the sovereign fund.
Actually, all these investment stuff is very confusing for ordinary Singaporeans. How different will Seatown’s investment mandate be from Temasek Holdings or Fullerton Fund Management which was established a few years ago?
By the way, Professor Huang, from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), has launched a tirade against Singapore’s state-linked enterprise model dominated by GIC and Temasek Holdings.
“Nine out of 10 investment projects fail. Does the government have such a high tolerance for risk? It’s taxpayers’ money, right? I don’t think, politically, it’s legitimate for the government to keep investing in failing individuals and failing projects. How do you defend these decisions?,” he asked.
Investing sure got win and lose one lah but main thing is, don't invest in products which you don't understand. I guess Seatown Holdings is not for me...

Vivian Hsu Stars In Hot Summer Days

"Hot Summer Days", a romantic movie comprising six intertwining love stories, all set in a stifling and sultry summer, is set for a grand opening across China on 11 February 2010.
As this year Valentine's Day coincides with the first day of Chinese Lunar New Year, the release date for "Hot Summer Days" was specially chosen to capture a lion's share of the movie market.
This week, the premiere brought major cast members to Beijing, including Rene Liu, Vivian Hsu, and Angela Baby.
The girls provided some enlightening comments on their lovers in the story. Vivian Hsu was the most liberal with praise.

Aaron Kwok Once Gave Lynn Hung Lingerie

Spotted shopping before she makes a trip back to her Nanking hometown during the Lunar New Year, reporters asked Hong Kong model-actress and Aaron Kwok’s rumoured squeeze, Lynn Hung, if she was buying any new undergarments for Aaron her for the New Year.
"No, I don't even have time to buy my own clothes," the statuesque one replied.
When the press further questioned her if she had ever received lingerie from the last remaining bachelor of Hong Kong's four Heavenly King, she shared that he would "usually give" but "not during the New Year."
She declined to further reveal details of the presents and her body measurements saying, "Not telling. There are too many men listening."

Christy Yow Poses Nude For Movie Magazine

Christy Yow (姚蕙敏) has posed nude for a movie magazine in Singapore, making her the first Malaysian nude cover girl. The magazine, F*** (Film, Fame & Frank), hit the streets last week.
The 23-year-old Ipoh lass played the legendary striptease Rose Chan in her new movie Mei Gui Xiang (The charming Rose) and was in several Singapore Chinese dramas.
Well-known for her 36C breasts, Christy Yow wanted to look sexy and "mysterious" in the photographs.
"Someone just asked if I always have to look so sexy in all my photos and will I not be afraid to be typecast? I guess not! I wanna do things that I still can manage now," she wrote in her blog.
Christy Yow is charting a nice path to stardom. As a releative unknown, she got a big break when she appeared on the cover of FHM Singapore’s December issue and raised eyebrows with her dress-to-kill poses.
She has the potential to take over the void left behind by Fiona Xie with her looks and impressive figure. What do you guys think?

School Girls Sneak Into Male Toilet and Take Photos

The school compound is so big but the girls have nowhere to play meh? Must go inside male toilet and pose for photographs?
The more I look at the behavior of our youngsters, I think there is a generation gap. In the old days, there is a certain decorum to how girls conduct themselves, but our youth are now more willing to test the boundaries of what is taboo in the past.
Just look at some of the camwhoring which borders on porn. Is this new found "confidence" in expressing ourselves good for Singapore?

Nadia Fazlini and Republic Poly Girl Scandals: More Singaporeans Camwhoring?

Nadia Fazlini has become a hot topic in Singapore after the story of a graphic sex video was plastered on The New Paper.
Nadia was the winner of Suria’s talent search competition, Anugerah 1999, and was nominated for ‘Best Supporting Actress’ category in Suria’s Pesta Perdana 5. Her recent Mediacorp performance was in ‘Anak Metropolitan’ which received good ratings.
The four-minute sex video, which appeared on a US-based social media, showed the woman in explicit sexual acts.
This followed a recent Singapore Republic Poly girl's topless photos in a public park (can't bear to post the pics here because too daring liao).
There seems to be a growing trend among young Singaporeans who take compromising pictures of themselves or let others do so, otherwise known as camwhoring.
This is very dangerous as they could be blackmailed or placed in embarassing situations when the photos are leaked, as in the case of Edison Chen's laptop incident last year. Legally, it is also an offense to make or reproduce obscene videos.
I cannot understand the mentality of people who indulge in “camwhoring” and post the content online. If you want to preserve your naked photos as a memory, fine, but why share it with the world??

Jordan Chan and Cherrie Ying In Shotgun Marriage?

Tiger Year seem to be a popular year for celebrity marriages. Hong Kong actor Jordan Chan (陈小春) will marry his fiancée, actress Cherrie Ying (应采儿) on Valentine's Day.
The couple has been dating for three years and will exchange vows at Las Vegas' Little White Wedding Chapel. Jordan Chan will book a plane to fetch about 30 close friends and relatives to witness the special event.
This week, Jordan Chan made his first public appearance since announcing the wedding to help good friend Rick Chin open a new skincare shop in Causeway Bay.
And he was bombarded by the media with questions on whether Cherrie Ying is already pregnant but Jordan only thanked reporters repeatedly for their blessings.
Jordan Chan is popular for his gangster movies and he has toned down on his hot temper since going on a steady relationship with Cherrie. He also promised to work hard to give his wife a good life after the marriage.
Under the right circumstances, bad guys can turn over a new leaf and become responsible partners too.

Economic Strategies Committee Ambitious Plan For Singapore
A high-level committee has unveiled ambitious plans aimed at transforming Singapore's economy over the next decade.
Top most on the Economic Strategies Committee (ESC) report is to make significant improvements in productivity in every sector of the country's economy.
The target - achieve productivity growth of two to three per cent a year over the next 10years. That will allow Singapore to grow its GDP by three to five per cent a year.
Source: Today Online
Improving productivity is all well and good. Since we will be cutting back on foreign workers (currently one-third of the work force) and standard of living keep going up, Singaporeans must become more productive...
But I hope employers don't interpret it as one person do two person's work leh, like that very stressed out. The next generation will find it difficult to give birth and raise kids properly in this kind of working environment.
