Cheeky Swimming Trunks For Water Polo Team

The Singapore water polo team at the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games is embroiled in a swimwear controversy, of its own making.
Previously, the water polo team wear plain black trunks but they changed to new swimming trunks (designed by the players) which feature the Singapore flag's crescent moon and stars near the groin area.
Upset netizens had described the swimwear as 'disgusting', 'nauseating', 'disgraceful' and 'disrespectful.' I agree that it is too cheeky and distasteful.
The Ministry of Information, Communications and the Arts (MICA) also said that the swimming trunks were inappropriate. But they weren't informed which is disappointing since this "inappropriate" swimwear is being broadcast to the world.
The Singapore Flag may have been displayed prominently but the Asian Games is not an entertainment or manhunt pageant where the contestants strive to be funny, creative or seductive.
Our athletes will be taken more seriously if they show pride in representing the nation and focus on winning medals. Instead of grabbing attention to their groins with such suggestive swimwear...
