Resorts Sentosa To Lure Indians With Universal Studios
Estimated to attract 13 million visitors, Resorts Sentosa - as the integrated resort is called - will have amongst its list of attractions Asia's only Universal Studios theme park.
From a pair of 15-storeyed tall cranes dancing to a castle right from the animated film Shrek welcoming you, from dinosaurs ogling at you at the Jurassic Park theme arena to a science fiction city - to even celebrity look-alikes like Marilyn Monroe and Betty Boop smiling at you - one would be able to see their imagination come to life in the movie theme park.
Besides the movie theme park - which will have 24 rides - there will also be an oceanarium with 20 million gallons of water. One can simply wear their bathing suits and swim with dolphins and fishes and even see the sharks underwater, before heading off to one of the 30 restaurants and food carts for a snack.
Krist Boo, vice president of the resort, said: "The Indian market is very important to us. It's one of the top three markets in the Sentosa island in Singapore. That's why we will have special travel packages for India travellers to the resort."
"We have tied up with a number of travel operators in India and will announce the packages next month. The average cost of a daily pass to the resort will be around Rs.25,000," Boo told IANS at a press conference here Monday.
Amongst the range of delicacies that will be on the offer in the restaurants, Boo said that there will be vegetarian food and tandoori specialities, keeping the Indian customer in mind.
The resort will have four hotels and spas offering 30 different therapy rooms.

This is an attractive and practical design. We can rollup our laptop to save space but the keyboard is a bit tricky for slow typists like me.

Vivian Chow Sheds Innocent Image In Lesbian Movie

After 13 years away from film, Vivian yesterday honestly admitted that she accepted a lesbian role in award-winning director Ann Hui's new film because she felt the character was very challenging and she was very sincere.
Filming is scheduled to start in November, although the movie’s title has yet to be unveiled. Reportedly she and Sandra Ng Kwan Yu will have daring same sex love scene.
Vivian Chow, 42, enjoyed great popularity in China throughout the late 1980s and the 1990s as a Cantopop sweetheart.
On her breakthrough, Vivian Chow said: "I have been in contact with many scripts but I didn't want to repeat my previous roles and I didn't have any character that tempted me.
"Since it wasn't fun I might as well remain quiet. This character had difficulty and challenges, and I have always admired Ann. She is a talented filmmaker who is friendly. It is very hard to be able to run into female roles with potential."
"As long as I am ready to perform, my heart would be very naive. I will let go of the true me to be a professional actor."

Hmm, we are in 23rd spot of the annual Human Development Index (HDI).
This means our world-class government must examine why our human development is lacking behind so many countries. After all. we always like to emphaisis "world class" in every thing we do, rite?
From the website, the HDI – human development index – is a summary composite index that measures a country's average achievements in three basic aspects of human development: health, knowledge, and a decent standard of living.
Health is measured by life expectancy at birth; knowledge is measured by a combination of the adult literacy rate and the combined primary, secondary, and tertiary gross enrolment ratio; and standard of living by GDP per capita (PPP US$).

Ris Low Exclusive Interview With RazorTV
I think Ris Low gave a rather good interview here. You can see that her English, while still not perfect, has improved.
The entire Miss World fracas is deplorable but if Ris Low realizes her mistake and becomes a more mature and confident girl in the process, I think we should stop our criticisms.
She need not waste her training during the Miss World contest and if she polishes her English and refines her demeanour, I am sure she can still make it as a TV personality.

Miss Singapore-World: A Torrid Mess

Claire Lee, first runner-up for Miss Singapore- World, announced that she is not going to represent Singapore unless she is being sued by contest organizer, ERM.
The winner, Ris Low, had "graciously" gave up her crown after public pressure mounted on her criminal offense but she has no intention of walking away quietly.
Last week, Ris Low told the Sunday Times that Claire Lee had backstabbed her by leaking her credit card fraud conviction, and had faked a back injury to “save face” in case she was not selected as the replacement.
Claire Lee defended herself: “I’m being accused of things I didn’t do. People now think I did it to take the title, but that’s not true … I don’t want to be involved anymore.”
ERM did not comment on the selection for Ris Low’s replacement or Claire Lee’s decision, and only said that an announcement would be made when the company is “ready”.
ERM has earlier revealed that it will hold interviews to determine the new representative but it is industry practice for the first runner-up to assume the title. Now that Claire Lee is out of the picture, Singapore may not have an adequately prepared representative for the Miss World finals in South Africa.
Just as well, I doubt Singaporeans have not much hope that our girls are going to win any awards lah. Certainly not after this torid mess of Singlish, credit card fraud and backstabbing being made public.

The Beautiful Soliders In China's 60th National Day
China displayed their awesome military prowess in their 60th National Day but I feel the real pride is the female soldiers.
These beautiful girls, whose grooming is comparable to models yet have a tenacity about them, will put our Singapore NS guys to shame with their well-synchronised marching.
