Singapore's swimmer Quah Ting Wen scooped a gold in the women's 200m freestyle in the SEA Games in Laos on Sunday. She clocked 2 minutes 00.57 seconds, a new Games record.

She went on to join Tao Li, Shana Lim and Roanne Ho to clinch Singapore's second gold for swimming for the night in the women's 4x100m medley relay. The squad timed a new Games record of 4 minutes 10.38 seconds.

I think Singapore is doing rather well for the 25th SEA Games. Swimming contributed another 2 gold medals, bringing our medal tally to 23 gold, 12 silver, 24 bronze, which put us in third spot.

Quah Ting Wen has again done Singapore proud. I am also happy for Tao Li who is another rising star but there is nothing like seeing our home grown talents groomed locally doing well on the international stage.

I really hope Quah Ting Wen goes on to win her target of 8 gold medals. Stay tuned for updates..
